We had a great week of Vacation Bible School. The weather was excellent and we enjoyed many outdoor activities. We had approximately twice as many children this year than last year. Thank you parents for trusting us with your children. We are already working on plans for next year’s Vacation Bible School. See you then.
I was lent a copy of the book The Trinity by a friend awhile ago that I now have a little more time to read. I have been really blessed by the scriptural proof that the author, Edward Henry Bickersteth, makes to show that Jesus Christ is God the Son.
One of the points he made was that the Bible refers to Jehovah as the only Saviour. In other places we see that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour. We believe this is because Jesus Christ is Jehovah. I have included these scripture references as a sample of the whole chart. I will be inputting the whole chart slowly over time.

There is no competition between God the Father and Jesus Christ because they are both God. If this has peaked your interest click here to read other comparisons between the office of God the Father and Jesus Christ.
Today we celebrated the wedding of Roy Taylor to Elisia Kuiper at Berean. It was a wedding full of meaning. We are thankful that God brought these two together and ask the LORD to bless their marriage.
We had a good series of Get Acquainted Meetings with Pastor Dave Harness preaching Sunday through Tuesday evening (Oct. 4-6) followed by myself on Wednesday (Oct 07). Between Pastor Harness and myself we showed the scriptural foundation of the church, emphasizing the fact that Christ is the overseer of each church. On Wednesday, I laid out the vision and direction I believe God would have our congregation move toward.
I would like to thank everyone who played a part in the preparation for these meetings and for those that were able to come out to them.
We had nineteen people from Berean Baptist (Kamloops) drive up to Williams Lake on Tuesday, Sept 15.09 to take in the “Get Acquainted Meetings” with Pastor Lendvoy. This church is brand new and it is going to be exciting to see how God works in the community of Williams Lake through this church. If you live in the Williams Lake area we would recommend you visit this church. If you would like more information about this church please email or phone (250.302.2008) Pastor Lendvoy. Lake City Baptist is constructing a website which should be online fairly soon.
In the photo above, Pastor Madle from People’s Baptist Church in Kelowna was preaching.

As I look at the world around me I am struck by the somewhat meaningless many people live. Many live for the hour, the day and the week but no further. It really begs the questions, What is the meaning of life?
I believe the meaning of life starts with understanding that there is a God and that He wants to have a relationship with us. As we learn more and more we realize that we are all sinners Romans 3:10Romans 3:10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
WP-Bible plugin and that because of our sin we have “…come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23Romans 3:23
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
WP-Bible plugin, meaning that we are separated from Him. We also see in scripture that “…the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23Romans 6:23
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
WP-Bible plugin meaning that because of our sin we will earn both physical death and spiritual death (separation from God and Heaven). In Revelation 20:14-15Revelation 20:14-15
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
WP-Bible plugin we read that “…whosoever was not found witten in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” It is a simple thing to found “written in the Book of Life” and yet so many don’t avail themselves of this free gift. The basic steps to obtain forgiveness of our sins and a place in Book of Life are as follows:
1. Understand that you are a sinner, like the rest of humanity. Romans 3:10Romans 3:10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
WP-Bible plugin
2. Understand that because of your sin you cannot have admittance into Heaven no matter how good you try be. Isaiah 64:6Isaiah 64:6
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
WP-Bible plugin, Ephesians 2:8-9Ephesians 2:8-9
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
WP-Bible plugin
3. Repent from your sin, meaning seeing your sin as despicable and turning away from it.
4. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you and trust him completely for your forgiveness of sins. Romans 3:9-10Romans 3:9-10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; proved: Gr. charged 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

People so often believe they will go to Heaven if they are a good person but this is not enough. We must all trust in Jesus Christ alone to forgive us for our sins and to provide eternal life in Heaven. Being a good person is something we should all attempt to do. We should try be as honest and caring with each other as possible. A true Christian does good deeds and works because he/she loves God and their fellow human and not out of self serving reasons of trying to procure eternal life in Heaven. Many do good deeds out of a slavish fear that by doing those good works they will be admitted into Heaven. The real reason for doing good deeds should be out of love and compassion and not for what we can gain out of doing them.
Once a person has become a Christian it gives a totally new meaning to the question What is the meaning of life? As a Christian, we have a clear mandate from the Bible that tells us that we are to “…teach all nations” Matthew 28:19-20Matthew 28:19-20
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teach...: or, make disciples, or, Christians of all nations
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
WP-Bible plugin. Teaching goes beyond just speaking to people about Jesus but also living a life that shows God’s power in our life where we show people the love of God by the way we interact with each other.

Our Wednesday Bible Study & Prayer Meeting starts at 7 PM and runs till about 8:30 PM. We are going through Clarence Sexton’s book “Following Christ and Fishing for men” at this time. The emphasis on this study is that once we are following Christ individually and as a church we will naturally want to tell people about Jesus and how they can know how to get to Heaven. The prayer meeting follows the Bible study and gives everyone the opportunity to make prayer requests. We then break up into groups (men, women, teens, younger kids) and bring the requests before God.
Our Sunday Evening Service starts at 5 PM each Sunday. Pastor Kuiper is currently working through a series of messages on the life and mission of Jonah.
Our Sunday Morning Worship service starts immediately after the Sunday School at 11 AM. Pastor Vaal is currently doing a series of character studies on the life of Moses. Moses is not just an old archaic patriarch of the Old Testament. Moses was hand chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of the land of Egypt. At the first Moses strongly felt unqualified to take on this task but later took it on and proved to be a very faithful guide. His strength as a leader is remarkable considering his humility. We hope you are able to join us for this journey into the life of Moses.
All our Sunday School classes begin at 10:00 AM. In our adult class we are going through the book of Proverbs verse by verse attempting to glean as much as we can from each concept taught in this book. Proverbs is one of the Books of Wisdom written by King Solomon. There is advice for practically every situation in life. We have a question and answer period following the study.
