Missionary Survey Missionary QuestionairreIntroduction Dear missionary,We thank the Lord that you have surrendered your life to serve the Lord, and we hope and pray that the Lord will prosper His ministry through you. This questionnaire is to see whether your ministry and ours is one in focus and mission. Over the years we have seen shifting beliefs and practices within our Independent Baptist circles, and because of that we desire to seek clarity with potential missionaries as well as with our supported missionaries after every four years of service. Many of the questions have mandatory fields that must be answered and those are marked with a red asterisks. There are also voluntary fields meant to provide you with additional areas to describe your position or practice. There are no trick questions here and we just ask that you answer these questions honestly without tailoring it towards our perceived position.God bless you!Pastor Gregory Vaal Berean Baptist Church DemographicsFirst & Last Name Cell Phone Email Website (if applicable) Training & ServiceTraining Please indicate your ministry training including such details as which school you attended (if applicable), how long, and what degrees/diplomas you attained.Previous ministry service Please indicate your previous ministry experience.Sending church Name of sending pastor Sending pastor's phone number Sending pastor's email Sending organization Please indicate whether you are under a mission board or sent out of a local church. Position > SALVATIONPosition on repentance & faith We believe that salvation is the divine rescue of individuals from the just penalty of sin, the power of sin, and ultimately the presence of sin. “Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver; in Whom we trust that He will yet deliver us” (II Corinthians 1:10). Salvation is by grace through faith alone, apart from any works that we can do (Ephesians 2:8-9). “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us…” (Titus 3:5). To be saved is the same as being converted, born again, or redeemed. God wants all men to come to repentance and salvation. God’s part of salvation is the free gift of Christ’s atoning blood. Man’s part is to repent of being a sinner and put one’s complete trust in Christ alone for the payment of their sin (Acts 20:21). If you agree with our position on repentance & faith please select yes. If not, please select no and express your understanding of salvation and its relationship with repentance & faith in the "Any additional information" text box below.YES, I agreeNO, I hold to a somewhat different position.High pressure soul winning Based on the fact that you are in ministry we assume that you have a passion for souls! We believe that the gospel carries with it an urgency, yet also believe that true salvation only results from the Holy Spirit working in the heart of the unbeliever to bring conviction and repentance. Based on this, we do not believe in pressuring or coercing someone into making a profession of faith. Is this your belief as well? If no, please elaborate in the comments section below.YES, I am in agreement with these beliefs.NO, I take a different view.Any additional information Please make any additional comments here. Position > THE KJVKing James Version Berean Baptist Church believes that God gave mankind the Bible through human writers (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20, 21) who wrote down the very words of God as they were given to them. The Bible is God’s unpolluted, inerrant manual for life and is relevant in any age. Just as God never changes (Malachi 3:6) neither does His Word (Psalm 12:6-7). God has preserved His Word throughout the ages as it was being copied from the original manuscripts (Mosoretic Hebrew Text and Textus Receptus) and eventually translated. All teaching and preaching at Berean is done with the King James Version as we believe that it is the most faithful and reliable translation in the English language. While we believe in the faithfulness of the KJV we do not take the position that the KJV is more accurate than the original manuscripts. We require any missionaries supported by Berean Baptist Church serving in English speaking countries use the KJV. For those serving in non-English speaking countries we require that they use a version that is faithful to the aforementioned Hebrew and Greek texts. We recognize that there are some countries where there isn't yet such a version and so we understand some may need to create their own resources or temporarily use resources that are less than ideal. Are you in agreement with these thoughts? If not, please describe your position in the comment section below.YESNOPersonal study Under what circumstances would you study out of a non-KJV Bible? As a comparative tool to help understand a particular passage.Only when evaluating and exposing the alterations of the non-KJV Bibles.NeverAny additional information about the KJV. We view our missionaries as an extension of our church ministries and thus would like to see them hold to the same standard of appropriateness and modesty that is expected of our own church leaders, both while at church and while in the community. For men and boys that means clothing that is not form fitting, has sleeves, and is below the knee. For women and girls that means skirts or dresses that are below the knee (no pants), and clothing that is not form fitting, sleeveless, sheer, or low cut. If you hold to these same standards please indicate yes, and if not please answer no and elaborate in the comments section.YES, I am in agreement with these standards.NO, I hold different views.Any additional information about your position on clothing standards. Please make any additional comments here. Practice > MUSICMusic standards We understand there is a certain degree of liberty in the "flavour" of Christian music used in Independent Baptist circles. We do believe though that some music is distinctly ungodly and belongs to this world and not to godly believers. We believe that all rock, country, swing, CCM, and similar music should be shunned, and that caution should be exercised to make sure songs that we use are not just “re-worked” CCM or other worldly music. We also believe that the focus of special music should always be on the Lord and not the performer and do not desire a “breathy” or “jazzy” style of singing. If you hold to these same standards please indicate yes, and if not please answer no and elaborate in the comments section.YES, I am in agreement with these standards.NO, I hold different views.Any additional information about your position on music.
